Questionnaire

Use a simple questionnaire whenever you are feeling particularly overwhelmed, stressed, distressed, emotionally drained, or distracted. Take the opportunity to disrupt unsustainable practices and check in with what you can realistically accomplish that day, what you will need to delegate, and what you will need to push off with appropriate communication to protect your well-being and long-term sustainability in your practice.

 

The Oldenburg Burnout Inventory (OLBI) is a clinically validated freely-available alternative to the licensable Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI).

On a monthly basis, check in more broadly with yourself using the Self Care Inventory (pages 4-7) set forth in the Mindfulness and Well-Being Toolkit developed by the New York City Bar’s Mindfulness and Well-Being in Law Committee or the Eight Pillars of Attorney Well-Being Self-Assessment developed by the New York State Bar Association.
